Polarized Photochromatic Lenses from Transitions™
Drivewear's 3 different stages are designed to maximize the eye's natural abilities in each of the different light conditions encountered both outside in direct light and behind the windshield of a car.
Low Lighting Conditions

Colour: High Contrast Green/Yellow
In low light/overcast conditions, Drivewear's polarized lenses are a light to medium shade. The polarized lenses remove glare & maximize useful light information reaching the eye for optimum visual acuity.
Bright Light Behind Windshield

Lens Colour: Copper
In bright light driving conditions Drivewear lenses become copper. The polarized lenses remove glare & control the intensity, providing good traffic signal recognition, highlighting red & green colors.
Bright Light Directly Outdoors

Lens Color: Dark Reddish Brown
In very bright outside conditions, Drivewear lenses darken the most. The polarized lenses remove glare and provide maximum filtration of excess light for optimum visual comfort/acuity.
These lenses are available to prescription in single vision, D28 bifocal and progressive forms.
Flight restrictions Lifted - Restrictions on liquids in hand baggage eased
Air passengers in Europe will be allowed to carry contact lens solutions in hand baggage from next month, as the EU adopts new, uniform rules on airline security. Reuters (September 27) reported that the ban on all liquids through security checkpoints, introduced in August (News Update, August 30), would be lifted from early November although containers would have to be 100ml or smaller and carried in a transparent bag. Similar measures were introduced in the US last month. Passengers on domestic and international flights from US airports can now carry liquids of 3oz or less in a quart-size clear bag. The EU rules would allow passengers to buy larger containers of liquids at airport shops beyond security checkpoints under some circumstances, said Reuters. &n bsp;

Bausch and Lomb recalls Renu moistureloc after
cases in America of fungal eye infection in contact lens wearers.
The formulation of Moistureloc is different to all other soaking
solutions having a different preservative among other things.
We are recommending that our patients either change
to Renu multipurpose solution, a predessor of Renu Moistureloc that
has a history of over 20 years without any reported incident of
fungal keratis, Optifree Express (Alcon) or the new preservative
free peroxide based disinfection system, PANASEPT.
Fungal eye infections are very rare in temparate
climates, being more common in warm humid conditions. Fungii can
not usually attack an intact cornea, usually coming from a scratch
to the cornea from a branch etc.
From the investigations performed so far it would
seem that the unique formulation of Renu Moistureloc may make it
more susceptible to fungal contamination in dank humid conditions
with non compliant patients who leave the top off the bottle for
long periods. This may lead to a film forming over the exposed nozzle
of the bottle that could be colonised by fungii in appropiate conditions
not usually found in Northern Europe.
All patients are advised to adhere to their original
instructions for contact lens disinfection. A rub and rinse stage
prior to putting the contact lenses in fresh disinfecting solution
is essential, despite manufacturers claims often to the contary.
Storage cases should be changed regularly. If your eye is red, your
vision or comfort compromised, take your lenses out and seek optometric
or medical advise.
If in doubt - take them out!
Will all patients who would like to exchange their
existing moistureloc product please call the head office on 01962
734382 or email Andrew Matheson from the contact us page
we will keep you posted
Thank you
