Dyslexia Treatment
One in ten of the population suffers from dyslexia. Dyslexia affects
people in different ways, some find the writing falling off the
page, others experience problems with numbers or reading at speed.
Others read so fast that they skip out chunks of text and need to
slow down to read more comfortably.
Many children suffer from reading and writing disorders that are
not identified till adult life, by which time the damage to their
educational development has already taken place.
Fortunately, a very simple assessment is available by Chromogen
practitioners, such as Andrew Matheson at our Alresford branch,
which can determine if suitable chromogen lenses can be prescribed
that may dramatically improve their reading speed and accuracy.
Studies carried out by neuroscientist, John Stein, of Oxford University,
found that approximentally one in three people who suffer with dyslexia
can benefit from wearing coloured spectacle lenses or contact lenses.
Chromogen is a unique system using a combination of coloured lenses
for dyslexia. When the correct colour combination is selected by
the patient during the assessment, an immediate improvement can
be experienced including clearertext, ease of reading and word and
number recognition.
As a result, text typically becomes much easier to read. Chromogen
is the only patented, FDA approved, product for the management of
reading disorders through the fitting of spectacles or contact lenses.
Clinical trials and numerous case studies have demonstrated the
benefits of Chromogen.
A study of 400 dyslexic children found that over 90% reported
a significant improvement in reading, writing and comprehension
levels when wearing Chromogen coloured spectacles or contact lenses.
One of the greatest benefits reported by dyslexia sufferers is
a tremendous boost in their self esteem.
There are approximately 35 licenced Chromogen practitioners in
the UK, including Andrew Matheson, practicing at the Alresford practice.
Chromogen can also be used to treat colour blindness. For a full
