About Us

Matheson Optometrists is an independent group of practices formed in 1984, when the first of our practices was opened in Denmead, close to Portsmouth, we now have 7 practices in the group, all in Hampshire Market Towns.

All 14 consulting rooms are equipped to a high standard. All have their own slit-lamp, keratometer & non-contact tonometers. All practices have Humphrey 7-series visual field analysers with statpack for windows 95; at least 1 type of applanation tonometer. Most have Nikon Video-Slit Lamp photography, 90D lenses, Indirect Headsets (Keeler Vantage), Gonioscopic Lenses, Peli-Robson Contrast Sensitivity Booths, Blood pressure monitoring equipment etc etc.

We fit all types of contact lenses, punctal plugs, intra-canalicular plugs and regularly attend CET courses to ensure that our optometrists are up to date. We are involved with our local hospitals diabetic monitoring scheme & hope to be involved in monitoring glaucoma in the not too distant future - hence our top of the range visual field analysing equipment.
