Matheson Optometrists in Hampshire work closely with ophthalmology in the area and in America. It is natural that there is overlap between these two eyecare professions.
In Hampshire, we co-manage glaucoma patients for local hospital, reducing the strain on one of the busiest hospital departments so that highly skilled ophthalmology collegues can devote their time and skills to those more complicated cases often requiring surgical intervention.
We are also part of the Portsmouth hospitals Diabetic reporting Scheme. This has been in place for several years now and has improved the standard of coordinated diabetic care in the area massively.
We perform refractive surgery assessments at our Alresford and Petersfield practices for LASIK, LASEK and PRELEX treatments. We have no financial ties with any refractive surgeons or clinics. This means we provide unbiased advice as to the most appropiate procedure, weighing up the relative risks and benefits to each patient case.
